Wheaton

Wheaton was known in the Civil War period as Mitchell’s Crossroad, named from Richard T. Mitchell who owned a tavern on the northeast corner of Georgia Avenue and University Boulevard.  Today, Wheaton is a new downtown revitalization area of Montgomery County with ethnically-diverse dining and unique shopping.  Wheaton is designated as a Art and Entertainment District.
