ACC Championship Soccer at the SoccerPlex!
Montgomery County will be the host location for the 2013 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship!
The 2013 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship will be the first under the new-look ACC with 12 teams in the league.
The eight-team tournament will culminate with the semifinals and finals in Germantown, Md., at Maryland SoccerPlex.
This season is the third time that the event has been held at the facility, including last year when the Maryland Terrapins defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels for the league title in front of 9,341 fans.
In total, over 32,000 people have watched the tournament in its two years at Maryland SoccerPlex.
Six league squads are currently ranked in the national polls, with three in the top 10: No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 4 Maryland, and No. 9 Clemson. At least one ACC team has advanced to the Men’s College Cup in 12 straight seasons, where league teams have won five of the last eight national championships and 15 overall.
Tickets for the semifinals and finals of the 2013 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship, to be held Nov. 15-17 at Maryland SoccerPlex, are on sale now.
Single session tickets purchased in advance are available for >$10 for adults, $7 for youth, and $5 for students that attend an ACC institution. Three-game packages can be purchased for $17.50 for adults and $10.50 for youth.

Last year, the CVB spoke with Trish Heffelfinger, Executive Director of the Maryland Soccer Foundation. Here's what she had to say about the ACC:
What is the estimated number of players, spectators expected at the games?
We expect Friday night to have between 5,000 - 6,000 spectators. There are four teams with 25 players each, 3 coaches, 6 referees and about 60 media and 30 staff.
How will this tournament bring economic impact to Montgomery County?
Three of the four teams will be from outside of Maryland; it is anticipated that at least 50% or more of the spectators will be outside of Montgomery County. They will stay in hotels, go shopping, eat in restaurants and enjoy all of the wonderful amenities in Montgomery County. The games will be televised on ESPN3 so it also brings national recognition to Montgomery County.
What preparation does the SoccerPlex go through to host these tournaments?
This event is unique. As the host, we are responsible for all operational and promotional aspects of the match. We market the event; we manage ticket sales and game day operations. It is a significant increase in work from other soccer tournaments, however it is the most prestigious and competitive collegiate soccer event in the country.
Has an ACC Tournament ever been held at the SoccerPlex?
The ACC Men’s soccer Championship was held at the SoccerPlex in 2006. Since then we have made substantial improvements to our stadium including a brand new bluegrass field! We now have all of the amenities of a professional stadium. The atmosphere is intimate and electric. Spectators are so close to the action on the field that you can hear the players talk to each other. The place will be hopping!
Who are you rooting for?
I am supposed to remain neutral and impartial. However, you better believe I’m with the Terps. My son Patrick is a senior at UMD so we are rooting for the hometown team!!
