Learn how 3-D modeling and forensic anthropology intersect to reveal the face of an unknown Civil War soldier. Using CT data of a skull discovered in 1876 on Morris Island, South Carolina, near the site of Battery Wagner, a forensic artist and a biomedical engineer worked together to create a facial reconstruction of the soldier. He is believed to be a soldier of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteers, which led its assault on Wagner the night of July 18, 1863.
