Having great work is only half the battle - people need to actually SEE your work! Getting into the public eye is not as overwhelming as it sounds, if you know where the lists of openings are kept, who to talk to, and how to present yourself for selection. This mini-workshop presents how to find opportunities, how to package your work for selection, and what galleries will expect when you come to hang your work.

Understanding metering and exposure are fundamental to capturing the visual information that you want in your photograph. Without the information that you want, the photograph may fall short of your expectations. We'll cover the variety of metering patterns and exposure modes that are available to us. You'll learn about different types of metering and how they affect the outcome of your picture. We'll also cover manual vs. automatic exposure modes. We'll learn about why you shouldn't always use your camera's suggested exposure settings and about difficult metering situations that can "fool" your camera into producing incorrectly exposed photographs.

History Happy Hour: Civil War and Civil Rights: African Americans and Civil Rights During the Past 150 Years. On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all slaves held in Confederate states shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free. But how free were the slaves, really? What challenges and battles still existed for African Americans to overcome? What barriers and divisions still exist today? Join us for an engaging discussion around these themes led by Brent Newton, JD. Beer, Wine and appetizers.
