The 19th annual Imagination Bethesda, a children’s street festival celebrating children and the arts, is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 11am-4pm. Musical performances and professional children’s entertainers will light up the stage, while hands-on art & craft activities will line the streets along Auburn and Norfolk Avenues in downtown Bethesda.

Eight painters have been selected as finalists for the Bethesda Painting Awards, a juried competition and exhibition produced by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District. More than 350 artists from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. submitted work to the ninth annual competition created to exclusively honor regional painters. The work of the eight finalists will be on display at Gallery B from June 1-29, 2013. A public opening will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6 – 9pm in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk. Gallery B is located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E in downtown Bethesda. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 12 – 6pm. Entries were juried by Tim Doud, Associate Professor of Art at American University; Duane Keiser, Acclaimed painter and art blogger and Christine Neill, Professor of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art.

GLEN ECHO POTTERY GALLERY celebrates the 33rd Annual Washington Folk Festival at Glen Echo Park with a huge sale featuring over 30 local artisans. Enjoy the Festival music while browsing the beautiful functional ceramics -- mugs, bowls, vases, etc.--as well as handcrafted ceramic jewelry and decorative pieces. The sale also features items that will appeal especially to children. The sale will run from noon to 6 p.m. on June 1 and 2.
