BSO at Strathmore: Brahms’ German Requiem visit website
Presented by Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
June 9, 2010
8:00PM - 10:00PM
Marin Alsop closes the season with a concert of innocence and remembrance. In Knoxville, Summer of 1915, the words of poet-author James Agee recall an idyllic summer evening, delicately set to Barber's folk-like music. Brahms' choral masterpiece, A German Requiem, was begun as a loving farewell to his mother, concluding as a grandly moving musicalcommentary on the fleeting beauty of human life.
