"...be free, no guilt, be whoever you are, do whatever you want, just as long as you don't hurt anyone." In the age of Aquarius, a time of harmony and understanding, sex and drugs are used as vehicles to evade reality and the establishment. Skin colors are insignificant. As a social commentary of our times, HAIR provides an insight into the philosophy of the flower children of the 1960's. As the first and most successful of the rock musicals, HAIR provides a new element in musical theatre entertainment.

"Form, Function and Symbol: The Meaning of Hats" looks at the reasons we wear hats, in the past and the present, using Montgomery County residents as examples. Different styles, shapes and colors of headwear can be used to create and maintain an identity, both personally and as part of a group. In this exhibit, hats of all varieties, as well as photos, tell the story of who we are and who we want to be.
