Take your singing to the next level! Howard University Professor Connaitre Miller, who coached "The Sing-Off" finalists Afro-Blue, leads this class for students who have attended Strathmore's Intro to Jazz Singing or have other previous experience. You'll build on basic skills, explore your strengths and sharpen your singing chops in this six-session class that culminates in a cabaret performance with full rhythm section.

Dr. Nina Kraus, Principal Investigator, Northwestern University School of Communication, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, reveals how the adult brain is shaped by musical training in childhood and how musical experience offsets age-related delays in neural timing. Following the lecture, Dr. Kraus will be joined by Marie Bernard, M.D., Deputy Director, and Molly V. Wagster, Ph.D. Chief, Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience Branch, Division of Neuroscience, National Institute on Aging at NIH for a panel discussion on the role of the arts in aging.

Guest artist: Cuarteto Rustico--- In a grand season finale, Cantigas presents a celebration of contemporary Puerto Rican composers, in collaboration with Cuarteto Rustico, a string quartet comprised of local artists with Latin American roots. The concert will feature El Tren, a commissioned premiere by composer Jorge Figueroa for choir and string quartet, and Lamento Negro by Sonia Morales Matos.
