Montgomery County congratulates the 2011 U.S. Open Winner, Rory McIlroy! McIlroy is the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bob Jones in 1923 and the second-youngest player to win a major in the past 80 years.
Noteable statistics:
- The estimated total economic impact of the U.S. Open will be between $130-$150 million.
- Total attendance at the U.S. Open was nearly 230,000 people.
The Conference and Visitors Bureau of Montgomery County launched a "We're Open!" hospitality welcome campaign in May. The campaign included banners, buttons and a discount card campaign to promote Montgomery County businesses.
